Green screen backgrounds do not need to be expensive. In fact, with creativity and imagination, designing own background becomes enjoyable. Here are some free to inexpensive ways to enhance green screen effects.

A sheet from the local fabric store or even a green painted wall creates studio. As long as images can be replaced digitally, the background can be anything that helps produce the end product. For virtual images, here are some "low budget" ideas.

1. Software wizard

Screen wizard or software supplies images work as virtual set. Look for sample backgrounds provided inside installation DVD. Often the parent company's website provides free images for download. If not available, email support and ask for sample download.

2. Creating images from scratch

Putting together a set using Microsoft Power Point and saving as PNG creates transparent backgrounds. Of course, Photoshop skill comes in handy in this scenario. Use PNG and not JPG to keep transparency in mind.

3. Ask for trial

Contact online vendors selling virtual sets and ask for trial or sample background images.

4. Royalty free photos

Flickr, Wiki Images, US Government royalty free pictures add more to this list, depending on each license agreement.

Be specific in search term when using search engines to locate photos. 3D, animation, royalty free, sample, these words will yield better results.

Instead of buying ready made virtual backgrounds, consider combining two images together to create one from scratch.

5. Ask artist or photographer

Some people just love putting their name on a piece of work to add to their portfolio. Photographers or artists can use such creative work as part of their portfolio.
